Unexploded bomb found near construction site in Adamawa 

An unexploded ordnance , UXO, has been discovered near a construction site in Adamawa State.

The development also prompted a swift military response and the cordoning off of the area to prevent danger to residents.

This was disclosed in a post on X by Zagazola Makama, a counter-insurgency and security expert in the Lake Chad region.

Makama, quoting security sources, said the device was found on Monday by construction workers at the new Mbege Ka Michika Palace site in Michika Local Government Area.

According to the report, workers spotted the object beside a tree and immediately alerted security authorities.

Troops of the 271 Battalion were promptly deployed to the location, where they cordoned off the area to ensure the safety of civilians and prevent any accidental detonation.

Military sources said Explosive Ordnance Disposal, EOD, procedures were being prepared for the safe removal and disposal of the device.

They added that no casualties were recorded, and construction activities in the immediate vicinity were temporarily suspended as a precautionary measure.
