A driver reportedly plowed a vehicle into a group of people on Friday at a Christmas market in Magdeburg, eastern Germany, according to European news agency dp. No word on whether anyone was killed or hurt at the time of the announcement. The driver of the car was arrested, the firm said, citing unnamed state officials in the state of Saxony-Anhalt. According to local officials, Michael Reif and Matthias Schuppe, both of whom have a suspicion of an assault. ” This is a sad occasion, especially now in the days before Christmas”, Saxony-Anhalt Gov. Reiner Haseloff said. Haseloff informed the dpa that he was heading to Magdeburg, but he was unable to provide any details on the subjects or the circumstances that led to the occurrence.
