The advances: the salutary reforms. Among the positive aspects of this first year, the efforts in the field of transparency and the fight against corruption were noted. The Government has taken several initiatives to improve the management of public resources and to strengthen the independence of the judiciary. The reform of some institutions has also been undertaken to guarantee a more inclusive and effective governance. Energy is a major factor. A significant fact of this first year of governance was the effective entry of Senegal into the circle of oil producing countries after several years of exploration.
