Army, NDLEA raid Katsina community, arrest six suspected drug peddlers  

Troops of the Nigerian Army, in collaboration with operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, have arrested six suspected drug peddlers during a raid operation in Katsina State.

The development was contained in a post shared on Monday by security analyst and counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama via his X handle.

According to security sources, the operation was carried out at about 5:30 p.m. on May 9, 2026, by troops of the 17 Brigade operating from the Forward Operating Base in Malumfashi.

The joint team reportedly raided Kauyan Dawo community in Malumfashi Local Government Area following intelligence reports on suspected drug-related activities in the area.

The operation led to the arrest of six suspects allegedly involved in drug peddling within the community.

Items recovered during the raid included 82.5 grams of cannabis sativa, 15.7 grams of Exol-5, and 1.8 grams of D5.

Military authorities said the suspects and recovered substances had been handed over to the NDLEA for further investigation and possible prosecution.

The authorities added that the operation formed part of ongoing efforts to tackle drug abuse and related criminal activities across communities in Katsina State.
