Manchester United legend Rio Ferdinand has picked Paris Saint-Germain boss Luis Enrique as his first-choice manager to coach the Red Devils permanently, ahead of Michael Carrick, if the Spaniard was āup for grabs.ā
Ferdinand also admitted that Carrick has earned the right to manage Manchester United in a full-time capacity.
Recall that Man United appointed Carrick to manage the club temporarily after dismissing Ruben Amorim a few months ago.
Carrick has done well so far since taking over from Amorim, guiding United to secure Champions League qualification for next season.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Ferdinand said, āHe [Carrick] would be my first choice, given the lack of options that are around right now, considering what heās done and the lack of options.
āThe only person I would be looking at seriously and saying, āDo you know what? Regardless of what Michael Carrick has done,ā is Luis Enrique, if he became available.
āHeās a great manager. If heās available, then I donāt care what Michael Carrick has done, you take him because of what heās achieved at PSG.ā
