2027: Peter Obi reveals first thing he’ll focus on as Nigerian President

Nigeria Democratic Congress, NDC, presidential hopeful, Peter Obi, has stated that his primary focus will be on uniting the nation if he is elected President in 2027.

Obi disclosed this after he was cleared by the NDC presidential screening committee on Tuesday.

“We want mothers to feel secure when their children go to school or work. We envision a Nigeria where travel across the country can occur without fear. Many Nigerians currently go to bed uncertain about their next meal, and this situation must be changed,” he said.

He emphasized the necessity for a country where public resources are not converted into private wealth, asserting that a vigorous fight against corruption is essential for the welfare of all citizens. “Politicians are overly focused on upcoming elections while the populace is suffering. This must change,” he remarked.

The former Governor of Anambra State also addressed the duration of the screening process, clarifying that it reflects genuine democratic practices.

He stated, “The NDC is dedicated to conducting affairs properly. The aim of the screening was to ensure that candidates fulfill constitutional requirements and can provide the necessary documentation.

“Concerning his position as the sole candidate, Obi noted, “I am unaware if anyone else has submitted an application. Until the party officially designates me as the only candidate, that remains uncertain.”

After the screening, Obi commended the screening committee headed by the former Governor of Ebonyi State, Dr Sam Egwu, for doing a thorough job and being very professional. He also commended the party’s leadership for upholding democratic principles.
