Atletico Madrid striker, Julian Alvarez, is prioritising a move to Barcelona ahead of Arsenal this summer transfer window.
According to Marca, Alvarez has rejected Atletico Madrid’s offer of an improved contract and has informed the club that he wants to join ‘a more ambitious project’.
The report added that the Argentina international’s target destination is Barcelona, but a deal with the La Liga champions will be hard as Atletico Madrid are demanding a €150m transfer fee.
Alvarez has just finished his second season with Diego Simeone’s side, having joined the club from Manchester City two years ago.
He has been linked with Arsenal this summer, and former Arsenal star Paul Merson recently urged the Premier League North London club to sign him.
Merson wants Arsenal to sign Alvarez and a new midfielder for Mikel Arteta’s side.
