Governor Umo Eno of Akwa Ibom State has said he did not defect to the All Progressives Congress, APC, because of the Ibom deep seaport project.
Eno had last year dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, for the APC.
In an interview on Arise Television on Tuesday, Eno gave an update in the current state of the deep seaport.
He said: “I did not move to the APC because of the deep sea port, it was part of the request that he will do it.
“Today you can check, the deep seaport has been approved. That’s just the begining, you got to now go to the negotiation, what part do you want it, full Federal Government deep seaport or you want them to take some percentages. Are other investors coming? Is the security report ready?
“You can now use that security report to begin to market the deep seaport and form an SPV that would help form the deep seaport.
“We have made progress and this administration under three years, we have opened a road straight into he deep seaport.
“So if you want to talk about the progression of meeting commitments and meeting your timelines, we have added tremendously to the realization of the deep seaport.”
