1. Operatives of the Nigeria Police Force have rescued Mrs. Busayo John-Paul, a 43-year-old younger sister of former Minister of Power andĀ All Progressives Congress, APCĀ governorship aspirant, Adebayo Adelabu, along with her twin sons in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital. It wasĀ learnt that victims were rescued alive during a late-night rescue operation carried out around 7:30 p.m. onĀ Saturday, June 6.
2. The abductors of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar, former Director of Defence Information, and his wife released a video onĀ SaturdayĀ showing the couple in captivity. In the now viral four-minute video circulating on social media, the wife of the retired general was seen conveying the abductorsā demands.
3. TheĀ Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, onĀ SaturdayĀ accused the Kabiru Tanimu Turaki-led groupĀ of twisting recent court pronouncements on the crisis in the party with a view to misleading Ā the public.
The PDP in a statement in Abuja demanded disciplinary and legal sanctions against lawyers and other individuals allegedly involved in theĀ alleged fraudulent misrepresentation of the June 3, 2026 judgment of the Court of Appeal.
4. Muyiwa Adekeye, Media Adviser to former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, has accused the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission, ICPC of denying his principal access to medical care while in custody. Adekeye, in a statement, said El-Rufai, who had complained of itchy eyes, had requested to visit the hospital to check his condition, but the request was turned down by ICPC officials.
5. The National Working Committee, NWC, of the Peoples Redemption Party, PRP has cleared former Governor of Cross Rivers State, Donald Duke, as the dully elected Presidential candidate of the party for the next election. The party has also cleared 420 candidates across all positions for the 2027 general elections.
6. An escaped cybercrime suspect, Asar Sesugh, has died after his suspected cult associates allegedly opened fire on operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission in Makurdi, Benue State. Sesugh was among 26 suspected cyber fraudsters arrested by operatives of the EFCCās Makurdi Zonal Directorate on April 28, 2026.
7. The terrorists holding teachers and pupils abducted from three schools in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State have reportedly made a four-point demand before they will free the captives. The abductors, who attacked schools in Esinele, Yawota and Alawusa communities on May 15, are said to be demanding the release of detained terrorist commanders, payment of ransom, two Hilux vehicles and the implementation of Sharia-related law.
8. The Bayelsa State Police Command has said the alarm raised about bandits in a school in Yenagoa was false. The tension and panic in some areas in Yenagoa onĀ FridayĀ led to the abrupt closure of many schools in Bayelsa State, following a post by a Facebook user, Senator Promise Etete JP, who posted that militants had captured bandits in Bayelsa and were demanding N50 million ransom for each person.
9. Ogun State Police Command has linked two suspects arrested in the Ijebu-Ode area of the state to a kidnapping and murder case under investigation in the Okada area of Edo State. The command disclosed this in a statement issued onĀ SaturdayĀ by its spokesperson, Oluseyi Babaseyi, noting that the suspects were arrested following intelligence-driven investigations by operatives of the Anti-Kidnapping Unit.
10. The Federal Road Safety Corps has confirmed the death of a female child and four male passengers in a lone road accident in Ebonyi onĀ Friday. The Sector Commander of the FRSC in Ebonyi, Daniel Asanya, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Abakaliki that the accident occurred at the Nkalagu axis of the EnuguāAbakaliki Federal Highway.
