It’s been a difficult road for Herman van Moerkerken, the hero of the Springs “house of horrors” story, who escaped horrific child torture 12 years ago to alert neighbours to the plight of his four siblings at the hands of their father. South Africa has helped raise close to R60 000 of the targeted R100 000 to get him the mental health support he needs.
