Johannesburg – Just four months after being appointed, South African Airways (SAA) acting CEO Matshela Seshibe has been placed on special leave.
Seshibe was appointed earlier this year in April after the sudden resignation of SAA CEO John Lamola.
Today, Friday, 14 August 2026, the SAA board announced that Seshibe has been placed on special leave.
The airline did not give any reasons for the move but said Seshibe would face an internal process.
The airline’s board has appointed chief legal officer Koekie Mbeki as acting SAA CEO in the interim
