Mosimane, in his second stint as coach of the national senior men’s football team, takes over from Hugo Broos, who opted not to renew his contract after the World Cup.
Mosimane’s appointment as Bafana Bafana head coach was delayed after he insisted on earning the same salary package as his predecessor Broos, who reportedly received R16.8 million annually.
SAFA initially offered Mosimane R5 million, later doubling it to R10 million, but negotiations stalled until political and public pressure forced the association to close the gap.
