Transport Department Corruption Saga: Whistleblower Esethu Hasane Suspended 

Johannesburg – The corruption allegation saga at the Department of Transport has taken a new twist with the suspension of the outed whistleblower, Esethu Hasane, Director: Research and Content Development.

For several days, the department and Hasane have given differing accounts about the alleged corruption involving about R15 million.

In a post on X on Wednesday, 9 September 2026, Hasane, who went public about possible corruption, said he was suspended by, “The same Acting Director General who I reported corruption to, and after, he ignored me until I went out, only appointing Bowmans when they came to take a statement on my disclosure (where they refused to drink my bottled water, fearing danger)

“Has suspended me: I asked him this morning why he wants to fall because of Msibi.”
