On Wednesday morning, a fighter jet accidentally dropped bombs on two communities in the Silame Local Government Area of Sokoto State, resulting in many innocent villagers likely being killed and several others injured. The villages of Gidan Sama and Rumtuwa were hit at approximately 7 am. The jet was said to be aiming at Lakurawa terrorists. Alhaji Abubakar Muhammad Daftarana, the chairman of Silame LGA, called the event tragic. Daftarana stated, “The villagers were sitting quietly when the bombs began to fall on the areas.” They were innocent, peaceful individuals without any criminal history. “It’s still too soon for me to confirm the precise number of individuals who were killed or injured, as we are still evaluating the situation.”
