The leading Pastor of the Tree of Life Bible Church in Irete, Owerri West LGA, Ebere Emmanuel Amadi, has been brought to court after several weeks of evading the police. He was apprehended by officers at the Ogbaku Police Station due to a complaint made by his mother, Mrs. Nelly Chidinma Amadi has reported assault, molestation, and threats to her life concerning family property. DAILY POST learned that Pastor Amadi had previously evaded administrative bail from the Scorpion Squad Office a few weeks ago, prompting the police to seek his re-arrest. After his capture, the State Police command initiated legal proceedings against him for allegedly molesting and threatening Mrs. Amadi. Nelly Amadi, alleged to be his mother, is involved in the case MID/210C/224, between the Commissioner of Police and Ebere Emmanuel Amadi, 20225. The charges state, “That you, Ebere Emmanuel Amadi, on or before September 6, 2024, in Irete Owerri, Imo State, within the jurisdiction of this honorable court, stole property documents belonging to Nelly Amadi, thereby committing an offense punishable under section 390 (9) of the criminal code Cap.” “COUNT II: Ebere Emmanuel Amadi did, on or about the same date and location, maliciously damage a pair of medicated eyeglasses valued at Sixty Thousand Naira (N500,000), belonging to Nelly Amadi, thus committing an offense under section 451 of the Criminal Code Cap “C38” Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as applicable in Imo State. COUNT III: On the same date, time, and place in the aforementioned magisterial district, Ebere Emmanuel Amadi behaved in a way likely to disturb the peace by forcefully entering the property of Nelly Amadi and writing “This House is Not For Sale” and “Beware of 419,” thereby committing an offense under section 249 (d) of the Criminal Code, Cap “C38″ Laws of the Federation of Nigeria 2004, as applicable in Imo State.” Advocaat van de verdachte, Barr. Osuocha requested the court to grant him bail, arguing that the case is a family issue that could be resolved outside of court. After hearing his argument, the Magistrate, His Worship Alamezie, inquired whether the Prosecutor, Maria Gorretti Nosiri, opposed the bail request, to which she responded, “No objection.” The court then granted the defendant bail of N500,000, requiring a surety who must be a Level 10 Officer in the Imo State Civil Service, along with identification documents. However, because the defendant could not secure a surety, Prosecutor Nosiri took him to the Nigeria Correctional Centre in Owerri. The court scheduled a hearing for January 24, 2025, as the defendant pleaded not guilty after the charges were presented to him.
