Abdulsalam Abubakar, the Commander of OPSH, made this announcement during a Christmas luncheon for the troops of OPSH and the 3 Division of the Nigerian Army on Thursday in Jos. According to DAILY POST, gunmen attacked the community on December 22, resulting in 15 fatalities. Abdulsalam, who also serves as the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 3 Division, mentioned that the troops had retrieved a significant amount of weapons and ammunition. “After hours of ongoing night operations, we have arrested 20 suspects who were either directly or indirectly involved in the recent attack on Tingbwa Gidan Ado village in Riyom LGA on December.” “We have also seized a stash of weapons and ammunition, which has significantly restricted criminal groups’ ability to carry out their illegal activities. ‘May the spirit of Christmas rekindle our dedication to the values we cherish; let it motivate us to serve with even more fervor and resolve,’ he stated. The commander expressed gratitude to the troops of OPSH and 3 division for their sacrifices in maintaining peace in the state. ‘On this special day, I recognize and commend the sacrifices you have made; many of you are far from home and unable to celebrate Christmas and the holiday season with your families and loved ones. While others enjoy the warmth of family and the comfort of home, you face the challenges of duty. Your bravery and resilience will not go unnoticed, as they represent the highest form of sacrifice. Nevertheless, I urge you all to stay disciplined, loyal, vigilant, and professional in your conduct during this season and always,’ he encouraged. Abdulsalam expressed his gratitude to Gen.” Christopher Musa, the Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), and Lieutenant General. Olufumi Oloyede, the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), for their leadership and strategic direction that have enabled the troops to achieve many operational successes through both active and passive approaches.
