Provide assistance without jeopardizing lives – APC Senator

Senator Shuaib Afolabi Salisu, Chairman of the Senate Committee on ICT and Cyber Security, has urged philanthropists and wealthy individuals to distribute aid in a way that does not put the lives of beneficiaries at risk. Representing the Ogun Central Senatorial District, Salisu shared this advice during the opening of the 114th Islamic Vocation Course organized by the Muslims Society of Nigeria, MSSN, B-Zone. Recently, at least fifty people died in stampedes during aid distribution events in Ibadan, Anambra State, and Maitama in Abuja. In his remarks to the press, Salisu emphasized that event organizers should implement safety and security measures for crowded gatherings and encouraged Nigerians to take precautions to prevent stampedes at public events. He expressed condolences to the victims and their families affected by these tragic incidents. This year has been quite tough for Nigerians. “I extend my deepest sympathies first and foremost. I wish the victims a speedy recovery. I feel that any loss of life reduces the value of humanity. Whether in Ibadan, Anambra, Abuja, or abroad… “The key point is what the federal government has accomplished.” We need to implement measures to distribute palliatives safely. “Make sure the palliatives are provided in a way that doesn’t pose any risk to the health and safety of the recipients.” “Let’s take steps to distribute palliatives without putting the beneficiaries’ lives at risk.” From now on, we need to make sure that any gathering does not lead to a stampede.
