Police apprehend man for cutting friend’s throat in Kogi

Usman Tijani, a second-year student at Confluence University of Science and Technology (CUSTECH) in Osara, Kogi, was attacked and seriously hurt by his friend, Abdulmuqeet Musari, according to police reports. SP Williams Aya, the spokesperson for the Kogi Command, confirmed the incident and the suspect’s arrest to NAN in Lokoja on Thursday. Aya stated, “The suspect is in our custody, and the investigation is in progress. He will be brought to court once the investigation is complete.” In a statement recounting the incident, Mr. Bashiru Okatenwu, Chairman of the Adavi Local Government Area, reported that it took place around 8 pm on December 23, near the Adavi Burial Ground in New Zango, Adavi. According to a statement provided to NAN by Okatenwu’s Media Aide, Suleiman Acheneje, the victim is a second-year student in the Cyber Security Department at CUSTECH. “In the late hours of December 23, between 7 pm and 8 pm, an unfortunate event occurred near the Adavi Burial Ground, where a young boy named Usman Tijani was attacked by one of the troubled individuals still present in our society. “Usman suffered severe injuries inflicted by Abdulmuqeet Musari, who clearly intended to kill him. The victim was found nearly lifeless and was rescued around 2 am.” In New Zango, Adavi LGA, the victim was quickly taken to Lokoja, where he has been receiving medical treatment. “The suspect had already fled, but thanks to the efforts of the people’s Governor, the Chairman of Adavi, and their security team, the perpetrator has been captured in Ekiti,” Okatenwu mentioned. He reassured the people of Adavi about his administration’s dedication to ensuring their safety and protection of their property. Meanwhile, a relative of the victim, Zainab Avosuahu, shared her thoughts on the situation via a post on her Facebook page on Tuesday, stating that the suspect had allegedly lured her nephew into the woods, extorted N200,000 from him, and then slit his throat. Avosuahu noted that the 19-year-old victim, who operates a POS business, is currently undergoing surgery in a hospital in Lokoja.
