EPL: Juric supports Onuachu in breaking Southampton’s goal-scoring dry spell.

Southampton manager Ivan Juric is hopeful that Paul Onuachu will soon score his first goal for the club, despite a slow start. Onuachu has not yet scored since joining from Belgian team KRC Genk in January 2023 and has played in 22 matches across all competitions. He made his second start of the season in the 1-0 defeat to West Ham United on Boxing Day, where he missed several opportunities to score. Juric was encouraged by Onuachu’s performance and believes the striker will break his scoring drought soon, noting that he consistently scored 20 goals a season in Belgium. The situation is similar in Turkey. “Playing in Turkey and Belgium is not the same as playing in England,” he said to the Daily Echo. “I am confident that he is capable of doing it.” During these training sessions, I noticed that he has distinct qualities: he plays long balls, maintains possession, and has a strong aerial presence. It’s understandable that he isn’t the fastest player globally, but I believe he can perform well in certain games.
