Governor Abdullahi Sule of Nasarawa State has warned the public about a scam that falsely claims to provide a N50,000 New Year cash grant to Nigerians. He characterized the scheme as deceitful and urged people not to interact with the fraudulent link. A statement from the governor’s social media aide, Godwin Rimi, shared with the press, cautioned citizens against clicking on any links or responding to questions to obtain the so-called grant. “It is a scam,” he stated. “Rimi said not to click on the link.” “There is no link at all between His Excellency, the Governor, or the Government of Nasarawa State and this program.” The statement also advised Nigerians to delete such messages and avoid sharing them to ensure their safety and that of others. The governor emphasized the need for alertness, especially since scammers frequently take advantage of the holiday season to prey on unaware people. This warning comes after similar notices from officials in other states, as cybercriminals consistently find new ways to scam the public.
