American Baptist College leader retiring after the 100th anniversary of the HBCU in Nashville Dr. Forrest Harris, Sr. was in charge of a third of American Baptist College’s reputation. After serving as president for 25 times, he is now gearing up for retirement in June. He claimed that for any organization that has been around for 100 times, it has left a considerable legacy. ” Making, in our case, students who take the lead in social justice issues. And I’m very proud of that legacy.” The school is situated on what is known as the” Holy Hill” — a small campus that towers over North Nashville just above the Cumberland River. Beyond those dark steel walls, according to ABC student Mondale Smiley, “is everything but a large family from the kids who stay on campus and share solutions with the faculty and staff who will check in on you.” It’s a truly vibrant school, but it’s also one of those hidden pearls, according to his professor at American Baptist College in Detroit, Michigan, through what can only be seen as holy treatment. He recalled that he had heard everything about American Baptist. However, as I went along, I really started to feel like God was actually urging me to try it. He graduated last year and is now one of the school’s renowned students, having repeatedly attempted to register my security deposit to the other institution. The Reverend C. T. Vivian, a prominent public figure, and Dr. Bernard Lafayette, who I succeeded as leader, were quoted as saying. Dr. Harris John Lewis, a former USC member and receiver of the Presidential Medal of Freedom, was one of the most well-known graduates of American Baptist College. His non-violent battle against social injustice started between ABC classes after he integrated segregated lunch counters into Freedom Rides throughout the South. They tell a tale about how he spent time in prison and didn’t also graduate from American Baptist College, according to Smiley. Before Lewis ‘ battle during the Civil Rights Movement, American Baptist Theological Seminary opened in 1924 as American Baptist Theological Seminary, telling tales of how he “does it because his family would press up against the grain of being here.” The all-Black National Baptist Convention of America and the all-white Southern Baptist Convention worked together to prepare remote Black church for authority in their communities, which is where it was founded. According to Dr. Harris,” This school’s goal is to make, teach, and coach, teach, and prepare young leaders for Christian support and social justice in the world,” adding that they also do much more than the school’s name might suggest. As he transitions the torch to the next leader of the school, Dr. Harris hopes they can continue their work while helping areas understand the crucial tasks of previously black colleges and universities.” We provide the kind of education experience curriculum that gives them a lens to view whatever profession they choose. Without American Baptist College, the contributions that our students have made, and all the other HBCUs in Nashville, Nashville would not be the Nashville it is today, according to Dr. Harris. As he transitions the torch to the school’s next leader, Dr. Harris hopes they can continue their work in the digital age while helping communities understand the crucial roles that historically black colleges and universities play.” If HBCUs cease to exist, the nation will lose a valuable asset for education and development of citizenship, both locally and globally. Without American Baptist College, the contributions that our students have made, and all the other HBCUs in Nashville, Nashville would not be the Nashville it is today, according to Dr. Harris. If HBCUs stop exist, the country will lose a valuable resource for both local and global education and citizenship development to advance this nation’s vision for democracy.
