Dessers has reached a verbal agreement to join the Greek team AEK Athens.

Rangers forward Cyriel Dessers is close to finalizing a transfer to AEK Athens, one of Greece’s top clubs. According to Record Sport, Dessers has received a weekly contract offer of £30,000 from the 13-time Greek Super League champions. AEK previously tried to acquire the striker in January but couldn’t meet Rangers’ asking price. However, the club is now in a better financial position thanks to their new owner, shipping magnate Marios Iliopoulos. The team, led by coach Marko Nikolic, is prepared to sign the Nigerian international for £5 million. Dessers was brought to Rangers for £4.5 million two years ago from the Italian team Cremonese. Last season, the 30-year-old emerged as the top scorer in the Scottish Premiership, netting 18 goals, along with 11 additional goals in European and domestic cup matches.
