Reports indicate that Peter Rufai, a legendary player of the Super Eagles, has passed away, according to Completesports. According to reports from com, the ex-goalkeeper died on Thursday morning after a prolonged illness, as stated by Radio Nigeria. While his family has not made an official announcement regarding his death, a senior official from the Lagos State Government has verified the unfortunate news. Rufai, affectionately known as “Dodo Mayana,” is considered one of the top goalkeepers to ever come out of Nigeria. Additionally, this summer’s major football tournament is currently underway, with betting open for the battles for a place in the semi-finals! The 61-year-old was instrumental in the Super Eagles’ victory at the Africa Cup of Nations held in Tunisia in 1994. He represented Nigeria in two FIFA World Cups, one in 1994 in the USA and another in 1998 in France. During his playing career, Rufai earned 65 caps for the three-time African champions.
