Tomiyasu is set to depart from Arsenal through an agreement by both parties.

Takehiro Tomiyasu, the Japanese international, is set to leave Arsenal after agreeing to terminate his contract. The defender is currently recovering from knee surgery and only managed to play six minutes last season. He is expected to be sidelined for another five months due to ongoing rehabilitation following a procedure he had in February. The 26-year-old had previously missed the beginning of last season because of another knee injury that also required surgery in 2023. Although his contract was set to expire at the end of the next season, BBC Sport reports that Arsenal and Tomiyasu have come to a mutual agreement to end it early. Tomiyasu, who joined Arsenal from Bologna in 2021, appeared in 79 matches for the club. Arsenal is already exploring options to strengthen their defense this summer, with targets including Cristhian Mosquera from Valencia. Kieran Tierney has completed a move to Celtic, and there is also a possibility that Oleksandr Zinchenko could depart before the transfer window closes on September 1. Additionally, Arsenal has secured Kepa Arrizabalaga from Chelsea on a three-year deal worth £5 million, and he is expected to compete for the starting goalkeeper position with David Raya. The North London club is aiming to enhance their attacking options, with strong connections to forwards Benjamin Sesko and Viktor Gyokeres. Spanish international Martin Zubimendi is nearing a transfer to Mikel Arteta’s team from Real Sociedad. Although it was expected that his transfer to Arsenal would be announced on Thursday, it was postponed due to the passing of Liverpool and Portugal forward Diogo Jota. Arsenal is also interested in Rodrygo and Eberechi Eze, a forward who won the FA Cup with Crystal Palace. The club hopes to secure trophies next season, having not won any in the past five years.
