A 22-year-old was beaten to death in Gombe due to accusations of stealing a motorcycle.

On Tuesday morning in Kumo, Gombe State’s Akko Local Government Area, a twenty-two-year-old man was killed by a mob due to accusations of stealing a motorcycle. Security analyst Zagazola Makama shared on Thursday that the victim, Daudu Ahmed from Sarkin Yaki Quarters, was assaulted at approximately 9:30 a.m. A group of young people allegedly attacked him with machetes, delivering lethal blows to his head and stomach, as noted by Makama. The victim’s older brother, Dahiru Ahmed, reported the event around 10:15 a.m. At the Akko Divisional Police Station, the Divisional Police Officer and his team quickly transported Daudu to the General Hospital in Kumo, where he was pronounced dead upon arrival, according to Makama. Two suspects, Babayo Musa and Zaidu Sani, both residing in Jauro Musa Quarters, have been apprehended, while others, including Sulaiman and Usama, remain at large. During questioning, the arrested individuals acknowledged that Daudu was involved in motorcycle theft and was considered a danger to the community. The police also recovered the machetes used in the incident. The case has been handed over to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further inquiry, and efforts to capture the other fugitives are still underway, as noted by Makama.
