A 65-year-old man who walked from Kumasi to Accra for Mahama’s inauguration has received a brand-new car.

Alhaji Ayaana, a 65-year-old business and charity from Tamale, just completed an encouraging 250-kilometer journey from Kumasi to Accra to see the swearing-in of President-elect John Dramani Mahama on January 7, 2025. As acknowledgement for his passion, he was presented with a brand-new Renault vehicles and an unknown amount of money.
The vehicle was given to Kofi Okyere Darko, a well-known broadcaster and celebrity character, as KOD. Alhaji Ayaana is seen receiving the car’s codes before entering the vehicle for a push in a film that was shared online. However, the movement has sparked combined responses from the government. While many internet users praised Alhaji Ayaana’s efforts and KOD and people involved, others expressed differing viewpoints and questioned the necessity of the product.
Alhaji Ayaana’s some symbolic works include this one. In 1997, he walked to recognize the second-term opening of previous President Jerry John Rawlings. Two years later, in 1999, he organized a 16-kilometer harmony and health move in Tamale to encourage cohesion and well-being.
