A tragic accident occurred in the night of Saturday 2 to Sunday 3 March 2024, at around 1am, on the parking lot of the CIMAF cement factory, located in Keur Moussa, in the commune of Pout, département de Thiès. According to the first elements of the investigation, a chauffeur of a Malian national truck accidentally killed five of his compatriots while making a rearward march in the dark. The victims, all of them apprentice chauffeurs, were sleeping as usual on the parking lot, behind the heavy weights. The shock was so violent that they lost their lives on the spot. Alerted, the firefighters quickly intervened and transported the bodies to the morgue of the regional hospital of Thiès. The brigade de gendarmerie de Pout opened an investigation in order to shed light on the exact circumstances of this tragedy and to find the fugitive driver.
