Monday, out of nowhere, an father from way back slid into my emails with a strange image. Just like that. That one image carries some memories.
This was a girl I dated years ago—back when she was still under 30 ( of course ). Mfantsiman Women student. And me? Adisco child. Up then, we used to joke about keeping up with the “school allegiance” point like it was some strong connection-turned-romance.
At the time, I was staying at a friend’s empty place in Cantonments whenever I was in Ghana ( inside Cantonments Gardens ), and she stayed there with me. Those were the days—no duties, only vibes.
We turned Accra back over. Every cafe, every cafe, every spot for checking out—we were there. She was building her business ( which, by the way, she’s now killing it in ), and I was in that period where I was torn between continuing to write full-time or finally getting serious with rules. I had made a bit of cash earlier in life as a publication and online entrepreneur and I knew I was set for life if I managed things properly. So I had a lot of time on my arms to have fun.
My imagine? She must’ve driven past Cantonments yesterday, caught a view of the ancient beauty, and boom—the thoughts came flooding back. That’s the only explanation for why, after all these period of zero interaction, she suddenly decided to send that image.
Consider about it—if her day with me had been late, would she even remember me, let alone achieve out? Hell no. That’s the point about dating younger women in their perfect: you create occasions that rod. They’re malleable, comfortable, and really fun to be around. You give them an expertise they won’t forget, and no matter where life takes them after you, they’ll often look up at that paragraph with a laugh.
Today, I don’t know what her dating life has been like since we split. Sometimes it’s been excellent, maybe it’s been garbage. But one thing’s for sure—any male after me has his work cut out for him.
That’s why, as a man, you gotta give your best when you’re with a girl. Keep a mark. Make it so that also years afterward, when they’re scrolling through old photos or moving by a comfortable position, they also feel anything.
Why did we split up? Actually, I don’t even consider. Perhaps some silly action or decision on my portion. But here’s the key— I made certain that even if it ended, it wasn’t because I half-assed the marriage. I showed up completely as I always do in my connections. And that’s why, years after, she also remembers.
