A pitch invader during the World Cup qualifier match between Ghana and Chad has been sentenced to a 100-day prison term.

The person who stormed the field during Ghana’s Group I 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Chad has received a 100-day prison sentence, as announced by the Ghana Football Association (GFA). Mohammed Huzeinu interrupted the Matchday 5 game last Friday by invading the pitch, causing a halt in play. His actions could financially affect the GFA since the Confederation of African Football (CAF) might impose a penalty on the association. Pitch invasions are viewed as significant security breaches that disrupt matches. This sentencing acts as a strong warning to fans regarding the repercussions of violating stadium rules. Furthermore, the GFA urged fans to adhere to matchday protocols, highlighting the importance of discipline to prevent penalties and maintain Ghana’s standing in international football. On a positive note, the Black Stars continue to perform well in the qualifiers, recently defeating Madagascar 3-0 away, bringing their points total to 15 and placing them five points ahead of second-place Madagascar.
