A police inspector and a civilian lost their lives during an attack in Benue.  

A police inspector and a civilian were killed in an attack by suspected herders in Ipelle village, located in the Agatu Local Government Area of Benue State. Reports from counter-insurgency expert Zagazola Makama indicate that the deceased officer, Inspector Daniel Omanyebu, was part of the Ipelle Police Outpost under the Agatu Division. Following the incident, police tactical units, including Operation Zenda, the Police Mobile Force (PMF), the Counter Terrorism Unit (CTU), and local patrol teams were dispatched to the area. Makama noted that the Area Commander of Otukpo has moved to Agatu to oversee ongoing security efforts. Authorities have confirmed that Inspector Omanyebu’s body has been recovered and placed in a morgue. The Benue State Criminal Investigation Department (CID) is now handling the investigation, and efforts are being made to apprehend the attackers.
