Lagos plank market ravaged by fire

On Thursday, a fire destroyed a plank market on Pipeline Street in the Ikotun area of Lagos. Olufemi Damilola Oke-Osanyintolu, the Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), reported that the fire impacted four shops. He noted that the swift action of LASEMA’s Dolphin Response Team from Igando and the effective coordination of other responders helped prevent the fire from spreading to nearby buildings. At the time of the report, preliminary investigations had not determined the cause of the fire. Oke-Osanyintolu also mentioned that there were no casualties or injuries from this incident. This followed another fire earlier in the day at the Federal Institute of Industrial Research (FIIRO) office in Oshodi, which was confirmed to have been caused by generator overheating. That fire was also contained, with no loss of life and no injuries reported.
