El Hadji Abdourahmane Diouf, Minister of the Environment and of the Ecological Transition, announced that he had the honour of representing the President of the Republic, His Excellency Bassirou Diomaye Diakhar Faye, at the opening of the Summit of Leaders, presided over by the Brazilian President Lula da Silva, on 10 October. This summit, held in Belém from 6 to 7 November, brought together nearly a hundred Heads of State and Government in the run-up to COP30, scheduled for 10 to 21 November in the same city. The discussions will focus on the problems linked to climate change, with a focus on collective action for a sustainable and resilient development. “Problems related to climate change will be at the heart of the debates for two days (6 and 7 November) “, underlined Minister Diouf, reaffirming Senegal’s commitment to an ambitious ecological transition, aligned on Vision 2050 and the priorities of the Plan de redressement économique et social (PRES).
