Abolishing E-levy and Betting Tax Will Put More Money in the Pockets of Ghanaians – Kevin Taylor

U.S. based Ghanaian political commentator Kevin Ekow Taylor has praised the abolishing of the e-levy and betting tax, calling it a good thing for Ghanaians.
Taylor, speaking on his show With All Due Respect, reacted to a recent KPMG study which claimed that abolishing these taxes would lose the government GHC 6.4 billion in revenue.
The survey comes after some economists and groups called for the government not to abolish these taxes as promised without finding an alternative revenue accumulation method.
Reacting to the survey, Kevin Taylor said the money that the survey claims the government is losing is money that will stay in the pocket of Ghanaians, therefore, it is good news for the people of Ghana.
Taylor said the government has decided not to take the money from Ghanaians anymore, meaning ordinary people would now be able to utilize that money in their own pockets for their own good.
He called on those pushing against the abolishment of these levies to shut up because the government is now losing any money but rather, Ghanaians are gaining money.

During the presentation of the budget and financial statement for the fiscal year 2025, Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson announced that the betting tax, e-levy, and COVID levy, will all be abolished.
