According to the Attorney General, Ikeja, Island, and Lekki are the areas with the highest crime rates in Lagos.

The Lagos State Government has pinpointed Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Lekki as the top three areas most affected by crime in the state. This information was shared by the Attorney-General and Commissioner for Justice, Mr. Lawal Pedro, SAN, during a press conference at Alausa, Ikeja, celebrating Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s second year in office. Pedro referred to statistics from the Lagos State Criminal Information System (LCIS), highlighting a troubling rise in criminal activities in the state’s major commercial and residential areas. He stated, “From January 2024 to May 2025, the primary crime hotspots in Lagos State were Ikeja, Lagos Island, and Lekki.” Furthermore, Pedro revealed that the LCIS has recorded a total of 74,962 criminal cases and inmates in Lagos State from 2018 to May 2025, raising alarms about the strain on the state’s overcrowded correctional facilities, which are operating at 106% capacity, housing 9,096 inmates as of May 2025, far exceeding their intended limits. He emphasized the importance of the LCIS, describing it as a revolutionary program aimed at digitizing and optimizing criminal justice processes, improving efficiency, and facilitating data-driven policy development.
