The senator representing Adamawa North District, Amos Yohanna, has resigned his membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
Yohanna said his decision to quit the PDP was necessitated by an internal crisis that has continued to plague the party.
“Today, I have officially resigned from my position as a member of the Peoples Democratic Party,” he said on Tuesday.
“Over time, the persistent internal crisis, unresolved conflicts, and lack of cohesion within the party have made it increasingly difficult for me to contribute meaningfully to the growth and stability of the party,” he added.
Irrespective of the reasons he provides,
Senator Yohanna could more reasonably be seen as following the path indicated by his political ally, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri, who announced his own defection last Friday, March 27.
Fintiri’s defection has already triggered a wave of departures that has left the PDP in Adamawa State markedly weakened.
