ADC calls for suspension of new tax law over alleged ‘forged provisions’

The African Democratic Congress, ADC, has called on the Presidency to suspend the enforcement of the new tax law due to discrepancies in the gazetted version of the legislation.

DAILY POST reports that concerns have been raised over alleged discrepancies between the tax reform laws passed by the National Assembly and the gazetted versions signed by President Bola Tinubu.

The House of Representatives recently raised the alarm, alleging that the gazetted versions of the law differ from what was passed by the two chambers.

In a post on his official X handle on Saturday, the ADC’s Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, urged the President to suspend the tax law.

The post reads, “The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has called for the immediate suspension of the Tinubu administration’s draconian tax laws, scheduled to take effect on January 1, 2026.

“This follows recent findings that the final version of the law contains substantial forged provisions that were not part of the original bill passed by the National Assembly”.
