In the framework of parliamentary work on the draft law on finances for the year 2026, the Commission des finances et du contrôle budgétaire, enlarged to the Commission des affaires économiques de l’Assemblée nationale, examined and adopted, on Tuesday 11 November 2025, the proposed budget for the Ministry of Industry and Commerce. Defended by the Minister of Custody, Mr Serigne Guèye Diop, this project marks a strong ambition for the sector, with a significant increase in the resources allocated. The draft budget of the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, inscribed under the Finance Law 2026, amounts to 63 933 222 920 CFA francs in commitment authorizations (AE), against 50 158 529 452 CFA francs in 2025. This represents an impressive increase of 305 1883 693 468 CFA francs, or a rate of increase of 609.62%. This substantial envelope reflects the priority given by the government to the industrialisation and modernisation of commerce, in a context of post-crisis economic recovery. According to the explanations given by the Minister Serigne Guèye Diop during his hearing before the committees, this budgetary allocation is intended to strengthen Senegal’s competitiveness on the national and international markets. It is part of the overall vision of the 2026 finance bill, which provides for a national budget of more than 7 433 billion CFA francs, with an emphasis on the reduction of the budget deficit and the mobilization of internal resources. The Minister detailed the breakdown of this envelope by programme, underlining the priority axes for the coming year.
