Sky Bet Championship club Blackburn Rovers have hailed Ryan Alebiosu’s remarkable rise to international recognition, DAILY POST reports.
Virtually an unknown figure in Nigeria, Alebiosu was named in Nigeria’s 28-man squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations by head coach, Eric Chelle this week.
The right-back was born in England to Nigerian parents. He was eligible to represent both countries.
The 23-year-old has now committed his international future to Nigeria, and is expected to play a key role for Nigeria in Morocco following the unavailability of Ola Aina and Benjamin Fredrick due to injury.
“Whilst Rovers are disappointed to be losing a key player at such a crucial stage in the season, the club are proud of Ryan’s progress since he completed a summer switch to Ewood Park, which has seen him earn international recognition for the first time in his career,” Blackburn wrote on their official webpage.
Alebiosu will link up with his international teammates for the first time after Blackburn’s clash with Portsmouth on Saturday (today).
He has started all of Valérien Ismaël’s side 19 Sky Bet Championship games this season.
