AFCON 2025: Onazi backs Super Eagles to win fourth title in Morocco

Former Nigeria international, Ogenyi Onazi believes the Super Eagles have the quality to win a fourth  title at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, DAILY POST reports.

There are doubts on how far the team will go in Morocco following their failure to qualify for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Head coach Eric Chelle also dropped notable names like Maduka Okoye, Terem Moffi and Tolu Arokodare from his final squad for the AFCON.

Chelle instead opted for newbies like Salim Fago Lawal, Tochukwu Nnadi, and Ebenezer Akinsanmiro.

Despite pessimism surrounding the team, Onazi is rooting for them to go all the way in Morocco.

“Just like our team in 2013, we had many new players who made people not believe in us.

“We knew we had a huge task in front of us, and we decided to give it our best. We were able to lift the title. I expect the same from this set of players,” the former Lazio star told Footy Africa.
