AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Need to Put in Extra Effort to Secure Qualification Against Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda – Ugbade

Nduka Ugbade, a former Nigerian international, insists that the Super Eagles need to put in significant effort to advance from their group, which includes Tunisia, Tanzania, and Uganda, in the upcoming 2025 Africa Cup of Nations. The tournament is scheduled to occur from December 21 to January 18, 2026. Nigeria is the most accomplished team in the group, having clinched the tournament title three times and marking their 21st participation in Morocco. Uganda will be participating in their eighth tournament, whereas Tanzania has only competed three times. Tunisia, the opponent they know best, knocked Nigeria out in the round of 16 during the 2021 tournament held in Cameroon. Tunisia has claimed the championship just once in their 21 home appearances at the continental tournament, achieving this victory in 2024. Additionally, Boniface is currently absent from Leverkusen training due to a potential transfer to Al Nassr. In a discussion with Brila FM, Ugbade cautioned the Super Eagles to avoid underestimating any team in their group. “The draw isn’t overly challenging for the Super Eagles.” However, when you look at various circumstances in Africa, it’s clear that the game has seen significant progress. “Nigeria has the potential to perform excellently, but I can’t dismiss the possibility of underdog teams like Tanzania surprising everyone. The Super Eagles need to qualify, but they must put in the effort to earn it.” Do you have what it requires? Forecast and Earn Millions Instantly. Sign Up Now.
