African food systems: The President of the National Assembly, El Malick Ndiaye, gathers parliamentarians and diplomats for international debates

El Malick Ndiaye, President of the National Assembly, chaired on 2 September a parliamentary meeting devoted to the future of African food systems. “I have the honour to chair, on 2 September, a parliamentary round table devoted to the future of African food systems. Together, we have reflected on the entire value chain from production to processing, from logistics to quality control, to marketing. I shared the experience of the Plan Sénégal 2050, which places food security and economic sovereignty at the heart of our national vision. Our responsibility as parliamentarians is clear: to legislate, control, evaluate and cooperate in order to build modern, sustainable and resilient food systems. Africa has 60% of the world’s arable land. It is time to transform this potential into wealth, employment and prosperity for our peoples. It is the era of a confident, bold and determined African youth; a generation ready to rise to the challenge of building a united, sovereign and prosperous Africa. # AFS2025
