After an apparent sudden fire at a house on Montvale Street on Monday night, firefighters are urging Winnipeg residents to use precaution when plugging in their automobiles ‘ prevent heaters. Fire crews who arrived on the scene discovered flames and smoke coming from an attached door, and while they managed to kill the blaze a short while later, the garage and the inside of the vehicle were also damaged. Before firefighters arrived, everyone in the house exited carefully, and one person was evaluated by paramedics at the scene but didn’t require any additional medical care. Owners should avoid plugging their vehicles in inside an attached or detached garage, according to the Winnipeg Fire Paramedic Service ( WFPS), because a fire that starts in a garage can quickly spread to other structures and put locals in danger. Before bringing your car outside while the cable is still plugged in, you are also advised to examine the damage on your block heater and extension cords for damage. If you unintentionally do this, you should replace the cord completely and have a mechanic check the damage on your heater. Extension ropes should also not be covered or run through windows, floors, carpets, etc., to avoid fire hazards, and you should avoid letting your rope run through water or snow on the ground outside. Not just the garage fire kept firefighters active immediately, either. A vacant church on Euclid Avenue is now being viewed as a total loss thanks to firefighters ‘ efforts in below-freezing heat to extinguish the flames. Trending Then

The cause of the fire is still being investigated, but it wasn’t the first time rescuers arrived on the scene; instead, the church had previously been damaged by a blaze in June of that year and was impacted by fires in 2021 and 2023. 1: 43
