Agreement Reached: Nigerian Forward Signs with Portuguese Team Famalicão

Nigerian forward Umar Abubakar has completed a permanent move to Famalicão, a team in the Portuguese Primeira Liga. Abubakar joined Famalicão from the academy club Footwork FC and has signed a five-year contract. Last season, he was on loan at Jong Gent in Belgium, where he netted 21 goals in 27 appearances. However, Jong Gent was unable to secure a permanent deal for him. The 19-year-old expressed his happiness following the signing of his contract. Additionally, reports suggest that a midfielder from the Super Eagles is being watched by Bundesliga clubs. “I’m really pleased to have joined Futebol Clube de Famalicão.” “I’m aware that this is a skilled team with a lot of talented young players, guided by a capable coaching staff,” he stated on the club’s official website. “This club has a track record of success in Portuguese football and provides outstanding environments for players to evolve and enhance their skills.” “I aim to become part of the team swiftly and help develop a cohesive group.” Abubakar is enthusiastic about achieving success with the club. “I play as a box-to-box striker, excel in aerial duels, and am always ready to seize chances to score and contribute to the team’s overall success,” he mentioned. – By Adeboye Amosu
