Getting ready for your Holy Audio person…
Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the minister of health, has revealed the strong personal connection that led him to choose his youngest son in honor of the late Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Ghana’s previous defense minister, who tragically passed away in a current military helicopter collision.
In a moving Social memorial posted on August 16, 2025, Akandoh praised Dr. Omane Boamah as a mentor, confidant, and reliable guide throughout his 12-year social journey.
In more ways than one way, Dr. Kofi Omane Boamah was my consultant as I went over a speech, rephrased a plan idea, or offered calm wisdom as the political noise grew quiet. He always withheld his talent and never allowed me to go by myself,” Akandoh wrote.
He and his wife decided to name their youngest child” Kofi Omane Boamah” in his honor over a decade ago because of the late leader’s unwavering support. Dr. Omane Boamah, rest also. You had a purposeful life, led with joy, and loved with sincerity, he continued. A Ghana Air Force Harbin Z-9 military aircraft collided into a wooded mountain in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region on August 6, 2025, killing Dr. Omane Boamah and eight others. The plane, which had left from Accra’s Kotoka International Airport, was heading to Obuasi for an event aimed at preventing improper mining.
Numerous well-known officials were killed in the collision, including Lieutenant Colonel Robert Moyer, Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Dr. Samuel Sarpong, First Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress ( NDC ), Deputy Director-General Samuel Aboagye, and three crew members: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Mane-Twum Ampadu, Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Numerous tributes from across the country have paid tribute to Dr. Omane Boamah’s commitment to the public good and his kindness in the wake of his tragic passing. The name of Akandoh’s child after the later minister is a profound testament to the life and legacy of a person who influenced both his personal and political trajectory.
