Akwa Ibom: NMGS seeks sustained engagement of professionals in mining, geosciences

The Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society, NMGS, have urged the Akwa Ibom State government to sustain the engagement of professionals in the mining and geosciences sector.

The Society noted that such a move would ensure that ongoing and future projects meet international standards.

The Society stated this during an inspection of the Arise Palm Resort at the end of their 61st Annual Conference and Exhibition, held in Uyo, the state capital, during the weekend.

Harping on the need to move towards harnessing solid minerals, the Society commended Governor Umo Eno’s commitment to diversifying the state’s economy through strategic investments in tourism and non-oil sectors.

The Society expressed confidence that with sustained commitment, Akwa Ibom State would emerge as a leading hub for tourism and solid minerals investment in Nigeria.

Speaking while conducting the team round the park, Mrs Emaekop Eduok, an Assistant Chief Geologist in the Ministry of Works, described the Arise Palm Resort as a project that reflects a forward thinking approach to harnessing natural and environmental assets for sustainable economic growth.
