Amad Diallo is expected to be sidelined for the remainder of the season due to an ankle ligament injury.

Amad Diallo has sustained an ankle ligament injury during training with Manchester United and may be out for the remainder of the season, according to ESPN. The 22-year-old, who is the team’s top scorer in the Premier League with six goals, has been excluded from Ruben Amorim’s lineup for the upcoming match against Tottenham Hotspur and will undergo a scan to determine the severity of the injury. While it has been suggested that the Ivory Coast international could miss the rest of the season, sources indicate it is still premature to confirm that he won’t return this campaign. Currently, the most optimistic outcome is that Diallo will be unavailable for several weeks, which would significantly hinder the team’s chances of qualifying for European competitions next season, whether through the FA Cup or Europa League. In a social media post, Amad expressed his disappointment at having to share this news during such a critical period of the season. Regrettably, I will be away for a while due to an injury. However, I am determined to return even stronger! It’s time to back the guys from the sidelines. There’s still a lot at stake. Amad has become one of the few bright spots for United this season after being given a regular starting role by Amorim, who took over as head coach in November following the dismissal of Erik ten Hag. The ex-Atalanta player signed a five-year contract in January due to his strong performances; however, due to an injury, United must now depend on struggling forwards Rasmus Højlund and Joshua Zirkzee to score goals needed to stay in cup competitions and improve their lower league standing as they approach the Spurs match sitting in the bottom half of the table. Additionally, forwards Marcus Rashford and Antony have been loaned out to Aston Villa and Real Betis, respectively, making it impossible to recall them to enhance Amorim’s squad.
