
The Osun State Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, has arrested a 25-year-old man, Rilwan Raifu, over alleged involvement in an armed robbery operation in Ororuwo community, Boripe local government area.
The arrest was made on Sunday following a distress call from residents who reported suspicious movements linked to a group of suspected armed robbers operating within the community.
According to a statement by the corps spokesperson, Yusuf Idowu Abass on Wednesday, āRaifu, an indigene of Osogbo but resident in Lagos, was apprehended by operatives attached to the Boripe Command.
āSecurity operatives reportedly mobilised immediately upon receiving the information and intercepted the suspect at the scene, while other members of the gang fled and remain at large.ā
The statement disclosed that efforts are ongoing to track down the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the suspect, who confessed to participating in the robbery operation, also disclosed that this was his first involvement in criminal activity.
He reportedly told investigators that an associate identified only as āSmallā lured him into the act and arranged his movement from Lagos to Ororuwo for the operation.
Items recovered from the suspect at the point of arrest include a short dane gun, a stick, and a mask.
The statement added that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigation.
