Delegates from various state chapters of the All Progressives Congress, APC, as well as the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), have begun arriving at the venue of the party’s eighth elective national convention.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports a large turnout of party leaders, members and supporters, many dressed in colourful party-branded outfits.
Delegations from Kaduna, Imo, Delta, Ebonyi, Benue, Lagos, Kogi, Rivers and Plateau States have already taken their seats at the Eagle Square convention ground.
NAN reports that the convention, with the theme: “Unity in Progress: Consolidating the Renewed Hope Agenda,” is expected to host no fewer than 8,453 delegates from the 36 states of the federation and the FCT.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) also reports heightened security presence around the Three Arms Zone, with personnel from the Nigeria Police Force, the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), and the Department of State Services (DSS) carrying out thorough security checks.
The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Alhaji Mohammed Idris, had earlier assured the public that all 20 sub-committees had concluded arrangements to ensure a transparent and hitch-free elective process.
The convention is expected to have President Bola Tinubu, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, 32 state governors, and members of the National Assembly in attendance.
