A new name could soon replace “Diomaye Président” in the Senegalese political space. According to a communiqué made public on 11 November 2025 by the Bureau politique national (BPN) de PASTEF Les Patriotes, the victorious coalition of the presidential election of March 2024 is about to be transformed into a new political entity: APTE, acronym for “Alliance Patriotique pour le Travail et l’Éthique”. In the document, PASTEF explains that this transition has already been under way for several months. As stated in the communiqué, “a name has even been proposed for the new coalition: APTE (Alliance Patriotique pour le Travail et l’Éthique), considering that ‘Diomaye Président’ has achieved its electoral objective. “In other words, after having led Bassirou Diomaye Faye to victory in the presidential election, the coalition changed its function: from an instrument of conquest of power to an instrument of lasting political structuring. A process already completed internally. Contrary to what some observers might believe, the approach is not new.
