In his message to the nation of 3 April 2025, the President of the Republic, Bassirou Diomaye Faye, highlighted the important effort made by his Government to improve teacher training. This programme of regularisation concerns a total of 9 479 teachers whose arrears were partially settled in the first instance. “Finally, far from being exhaustive, the recruitment process reached 19.53 billion FCFA at the end of March 2025, for a total of 9 479 teachers”, said President Diomaye Faye. He underlined the efforts made to pay off this debt towards teachers. This initiative is part of the Government’s commitment to improve the conditions of teachers and to ensure a more transparent management of public finances. The President also referred to a complementary measure to formalize and regularize the situation of certain contract teachers. “In addition, there are salaries for 1 198 contract teachers and professors, with an annual budget impact of FCFA 5.79 billion”, he added, specifying that this measure aims to regularize their status and guarantee them a stable salary.
